The Garden Bridge: London

So I might be a bit behind on this one, but I just read about the proposed Garden Bridge over the Thames in London.  The design is by Thomas Heatherwick (aka the genius responsible for the newly designed buses, an update on the classic that you can see all around London).  Actress Joanna Lumley has been largely responsible for raising the funds to make this happen and recently, the City of London approved a budget and next steps for the project.  According to Transit for London, the bridge is set to be completed by 2017.  While that date sounds ambitious, it is certainly an exciting project and one that I look forward to following as the work begins!

Both from a design and ecological standpoint this is pretty cool and might give the High Line some serious competition!   Below are a few pictures that I was able to find over at Dezeen.  Enjoy!
