Wedding Wednesday: Save the Dates

Happy Wednesday! Having just gotten married, I have acquired so much information about wedding planning and thought why not share here.  So, im going to start a Wedding Wednesday and post something each week!

I love stationary and as a result, had the hardest time choosing my save the dates and invitations.  I wanted every detail to be perfect and felt that there were so many choices.  Ultimately, I splurged on my save the dates and went simple on the invitations. The save the dates were from this amazing printshop, Julie Holcomb. You send her studio an image (in our case, a jpeg of a painting of Nantucket where we were getting married) and they transfer it onto beautiful thick cardstock, giving it a watercolor feel.  I have one framed in my living room now because its so much more beautiful than regular stationary.    Here was ours:
The cards were 5x7 and very thick, with a red edging to make the card a bit more vibrant.

We went simple on the text, the photo was meant to speak for itself.

We loved our Save the Dates and definitely recommend using Julie Holcomb! Check out her website and more of her work here.

The Garden Bridge: London

So I might be a bit behind on this one, but I just read about the proposed Garden Bridge over the Thames in London.  The design is by Thomas Heatherwick (aka the genius responsible for the newly designed buses, an update on the classic that you can see all around London).  Actress Joanna Lumley has been largely responsible for raising the funds to make this happen and recently, the City of London approved a budget and next steps for the project.  According to Transit for London, the bridge is set to be completed by 2017.  While that date sounds ambitious, it is certainly an exciting project and one that I look forward to following as the work begins!

Both from a design and ecological standpoint this is pretty cool and might give the High Line some serious competition!   Below are a few pictures that I was able to find over at Dezeen.  Enjoy!

The view from afar.

Love this rendering with the London Skyline.

I wish more public transportation was like this!

Sugar Paper for J.Crew & My Wedding Stationary

While I wouldn't change a thing about my wedding (it was only 3 months ago, but I think it was perfect), I do wish this fab collaboration between J. Crew and Sugar Paper had been available when I got married.

I bought a wedding planner from Selfridges, but this one is so much prettier!
Perfect coasters for cocktail hour!
Or at the Rehearsal Dinner.
Baubbles to match the flowing bubbles.

These kits are a lifesaver!
I did end up using nailpolish remover on the day of when we noticed a tiny stain on my dress.

Perfect thank you note!
One of many great tags, these are the perfect addition to welcome bags or wedding gifts.

Wedding stationary can be so overwhelming and this Sugar Paper for J. Crew will definitely help out a few brides to be!

Apartment Lusting

We've just returned to London after 2 weeks on the East Coast and my homesickness is at an all time high.  While, I am not envious of the 2 degree weather they've had in NYC, I am lusting after this amazing NYC apartment.  Upon returning to London, I've realized that my style has become so traditional living here and I need to get back some of my NYC vibe.  These apartments by at Phillip House by Victoria Hagan are seriously inspiring, Hagan said that she wanted to create an open plan home for the modern family and she definitely succeeded!  These apartments have the perfect blend of traditional style with contemporary edge and Id love to move in!

My living room is also many shades of whites.  I love the luxurious feel it gives.

That fireplace is such a great focal point in the room.

Simplistic perfection!

The grey on the walls paired with the artwork adds to the calming aesthetic.

I am dying to build a breakfast nook when we finally own a house.

Amazing detailing on the counter edge.

Great Open Plan Kitchen.

Kids room. Fun but sophisticated.

Grown up's retreat.

The mixed tiles are a sign of the designers touch.

Love that vanity!
